Let’s celebrate! Hopefully, this post is drowned under the sheer number of posts that I will eventually write, but to help me structure my website building, I need a first post! This is largely unedited, no proofreading, but I will set the scene for where we’re at!

Please say hi to… Mila! She’s five years old, who was born during covid, so she wasn’t able to be socialized correctly. Or at the very least, I didn’t socialize her nearly enough. So, she’s now a very anxious and fearful dog, but I’m taking the reins into my hands to try to help her. For the last five years, we’ve been managing having her, but that’s about it. Then, I left for a job abroad for the last two years, dumping her on the rest of my family to deal with. I feel guilty that I was able to enjoy such an amazing life without any responsibilities, while my family was stuck always having to think about her.
But what’s done is done, and I’m trying to take the lead to pull her under my responsibility to train her so we can stop just surviving and move to thriving. My goal is to have her reach a point where she can be like our first family dog who passed three years ago. She was an angel, no bites, friendly and patient, not afraid, and she was potty-trained perfectly until she reached old age and began struggling with incontinence.
Well, we basically have the opposite right now, due to a myriad of reasons. Most importantly, probably my absence and the responsiblity falling onto people who had full time occupations and no time to continue training Mila.
So, here is my record of training her now that she is five-years-old, still peeing in the house, locekd to the back room only to prevent the mess from spreading to our own living areas, and a back living room that is completely unusable because of the scent of pee.
There’s a lot to unpack here, but that’s the gist of the problem.
More to be edited later. But here’s to the first!
